La Estrellita

La Estrellita is one of my favorite Brighton restaurants. It has been around since the mid 1980s. The name means “little star” in Spanish, so that should clue you in that it is a Mexican restaurant. The Montoya family has been running this, and it’s previous incarnation for three generations now. I think it would be fair to say that they have gotten things right.

The food here is among the best in town. They have been recognized in Hispanic Magazine as one of the Top 50 Hispanic Restaurants in America. My theory is the food is so good, because their Green Chili and Salsa are the best in town. I make it a point to always have something, be it a smothered burrito or an Indian Taco, to make sure I get some. (They bottle and sell their salsa, too) But, you won’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

One of the unique features, at least for Brighton, is the outdoor seating. They have a beautiful, partially covered, outdoor area that makes eating here in the summer special. The staff is professional and very attentive. The prices are average. The décor on the inside is slightly claustrophobic due to the low ceilings, but it doesn’t detract from the experience.

The restaurant is located in downtown Brighton, at the corner of Main and Strong St. But parking is all in the back and you enter on the backside.

I rate La Estrellita my 3rd best (2nd and 3rd are a coin flip) Mexican restaurant in Brighton.
