Empanada's House - La casa de la empanada Nov 04, 2008
The empanadas are very common pastries here. You can find them in the whole continent, but they are different in each country. In Lima you are able to buy them in different restaurants and cafes, but the empanadas from "La Casa de la Empanada" (Empanada's house) are the best. It started with one location in Jesus Maria, but right now they are in the business area and also in the famous Miraflores. This is the location I visited recently to get empanadas for a contest. The place is small and cozy. Hard to find if you are going for first time, but getting lost in your way there is totally worth.

This business is 7 years old and has a wide variety of fried, baked and special empanadas. You can find the bbq one with pork or sausage, the grilled beef one, seafood, corn & cheese, 4 cheeses, hawaian (chicken & pineapple), aji de gallina - a Peruvian dish with chicken and yellow pepper, artichoke with mushrooms or also sweet ones like the one with strawberries and ricotta, cream caramel with ricota and many other more. The most famous stuff here are the empanadas, but they also serve lunch and salads. They also prepare small empanadas for catering. Their prices are low. Maybe you can find cheaper somewhere else, but the quality and quantity of their portions is much better.

They also have a good selection of drinks and have a Happy Hour daily, which include different kind of pisco drinks. All 2 x 1. They have different offers combining empanadas and drinks.

Definitely I recommend you to visit the place if you are looking for a tasty snack, which is not expensive, but fut of flavor. The location might not be fancy, but it's cozy and the friendly staff will make things better.

If you are looking for a tasty empanada in Lima, this is the place to go for it!

The place may not be big and fancy, but it sure has local charm with sit-in breakfast counters or cosy small diner sets.

The desayuno/breakfast menus are good and cheap too.

Located along a busy street, where there are heaps of other eateries. Definitely recommended if you are looking for a one-stop-shop for empanadas in lima!

Although I have the address, it wasn't easy to find the place: "La Casa de la Empanada" but finally we did it, hehe. OMG, that place was the empanadas' paradise. A large variety plus it was cheap and had good offers for drinks too, mmm. I think we would go back there soon, haha. We got 4 different… "Empanadas & Pisco", so much fun with new and old friend (aka Mal) :)
