Relaxed hostal in Taganga Apr 11, 2011
Great hostal to relax and as a base to party in Taganga. The hostal has a great kitchen during the night with excellent food, as well as a little bistro were Dominique prepares excellent salads and paninis.

Defintly a good place to relax, chill out and as a base to explore Tayrona.

Typical accommodation, overrated by Lonely Planet Aug 07, 2010
I spent great time there, but La Casa de Felipe is probably a model case overrated by Lonely Planet, IMHO.

1. Very informative, friendly staff. The owner Felipe is the legend among backpackers.

2. Well-organized everything. Clean & comfortable.

3. Never be bored, all the time it's full with backpackers.

1. The location is too remote. Surely, it took 20 minutes to reach the main beach when I walked. (I almost got burned!)

2. Just tooooooo many mosquitos due to the garden.

3. Too many newbie backpackers. Can be noisy.

I found that in many cases, Lonely Planet's descriptions are not quite accurate. They never mention about bad points of accommodation. La Casa de Felipe is another model of this.

Both pros and cons of this hostel are serious. Sometimes I gave up going to the beach, it's just too far. However, the staff is amazing. Felipe is very friendly person, and he's all the time willing to help other backpackers. Overall, personally I cannot recommend this hostel. (I really hate mosquitos!) There are so many alternatives like bayview, or divanga in Taganga.

Casa de Felipe, Taganga, Colombia Sep 18, 2010
Beautiful, but far up the mountain. Quite a walk, although on a proper road. Cold drinks (beers and sodas) available for under 2000 COP ($1). Kitchen is okay, blender available. As there were no more dorms available when we returned from Punta Gallinas (we stayed before and our bags were stored at the hostel) we got an apartment for the price of a dorm. Small private kitchen with blender. 'Private' terrace with hammocks. All the beds have mosquito nets. Bathrooms are basic. Wifi is free, but no everywhere available. Tip: halfway up the fill is Baguettes de Maria (or something similar), nice food, worse service. Nice chill out areas, lots of them!

20.000 COP ($10) per night. Recommended, it's okay.

Amazing place. Laid back, chilled and comfortable. The best restaurant in south america ... Patrick is a legend and keeps the pounds on! Location is great and people are wonderful. Good internet connection ($2,000 per hour) and a lovely mirador view.

Nothing but excellent. Loved it so much we kept staying in fact. We had a double room with ensuite for $30,000 pesos per night. Basically it was like a motel room and clean. Staff were great and very helpful. A good breakfast from 7.30am until 10.30am for $5,000 pesos per person which is eggs, 4 bits of toast with marmalade, tea or coffee and fresh juice. Loved those brekkies. A nice chilled atmoshere with heaps of hammocks. A must.
