La Casa de Don David Oct 02, 2009
La Casa Don David offer rooms and cabanas with an on site restaurant that is just 15 minutes from the Tikal Park and 25 minutes from Flores. This hotel is located in a wonderful tropical garden on Lake Peten Itza. The room are large, clean with double beds, fan and tile baths. Each room has veranda seating just outside the door. Most have hot water. I have stayed here twice with no complaints. The room rates begin at around $15.00 US per persons. This hotel has a great laundry service which I used on each of my visits with no complaints. They accept most credit cards and US currency. They also offer currency exchange services that I used on all my visits. The staff will assist you in making your bus connections and the buses stops at this hotel.
This hotel offers tours to Yaxha, Nakun, Uaxactun, Zotz, Motul, Ceibal, Mirador, Rio Azul, Tikal, Bats Tour, Macaw Trail, Rio San Pedro, El Retiro sanctuary & snake exhibits, the Sky Way, the Canopy Tour, Petencito Zoo and Actun-Can caves. Breakfast and lunch is served from 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM, dinner is served at 7:00 PM. Phone: 502-306-2190 Fax: 502-926-0807 Mobile: 502-306-2190 |

If you're headed to Tikal, I highly recommend you stay at La Casa De Don David. It's located in the village of El Remate, about 30 km. from Tikal. Rooms with hot water and A/C are a good value. The restaurant overlooks lush gardens and the lake. Great food, especially desserts! They can also help you arrange tours and provide information.

somewhat of a legend May 26, 2006
There are three accommodations of varying prices available within Tikal itself. We were seriously considering staying there so we could be in the park early and see the sunrise but not-so-positive reviews and high prices made us decide to stay outside of the park. We had a choice of staying in the town of Flores, about 1,5 to 2 hours away from the park on a good road, or in the village of El Remate, about half way to Flores. Because it was closer, we decided on El Remate, and the famous Casa de Don David.
We booked via internet (their excellent website is packed with information), and had good, prompt reactions from them. Well, we call heartily recommend staying at this place. It lies at the shore of the huge lake Peten Itza and has beautiful grounds (see the pictures). Rooms, in varying sizes, range from US$ 18 to 26 per person. The price includes one meal, your choice of lunch or dinner. Our room (one of the best) was large, clean and as new. Service was friendly, for example they arranged our bus transport to Belize without any problem, quick and easy. They can also arrange excursions for you. Nice, locally made wood carvings are available in the lobby. The restaurant served good home-style meals. Don't miss the stacks of literature with info on the area! Ask for the handy lunch box if you are going to spend the entire day in Tikal. Part of the Guatemala & Belize 2006 travel blog

At present the only hotel that has internet for their guests is La Casa De Don David. Several hotels currently have cellular service for use. Some hotels accept traveler's checks or U.S. cash. Be sure to shop for a good exchange rate. We here at La Casa De Don David will help you in any way possible… Homes Base La Casa De Don David, El Remate, Guatemala |
