La Calade Joucas Reviews
Superb villa in Provence Jun 19, 2010
As many of you know, a “villa” is not necessarily the sprawling mansion that the name conjures up. It can be anything from that to a small apartment. This villa in charming Joucas is a semi-detached three-bedroom house. For our purposes it was in all ways absolutely perfect! We had originally made the rental arrangements with RentVillas.com. We had, of course, seen pictures on the Internet and were satisfied with what we saw but the reality was much better. Since our booking, the place had been sold and turned over to a new booking agency, Coquelicot. The new owner had totally remodeled and refurnished the villa and we were the first people to rent the place from them.
Set on the side of a hill near the lower reaches of this small hill town, it offers magnificent views of the Luberon. Entry is on the upper level; what we American’s call the second floor and the Europeans the first. On that level are three bedrooms, each with washbasin and fully enclosed shower. The two large front bedrooms have a wonderful view of the valley while the third is smaller and has a view only of the small street. There is a shared toilet off the hall.
On the lower level is a very large living room / dining room adjacent to a very large and well-equipped kitchen. All appliances are modern and brand new. Also on that level are a toilet and a utility room with a new clothes washer and drier. Two sets of glass doors open onto a terrace with a small swimming pool.
Because there is so much of the world to see, we rarely return to places we’ve visited. However, we may be back here, perhaps for a month next time.
