Eating typical food in Mitad del Mundo - La Cabana Jul 14, 2009
There are many restaurants inside the park, but eating there is more expensive than doing it outside, since they are more tourists oriented.

When we were there, we decided to have lunch outside, not only because it was cheaper, but also because we wanted to have a real experience.

This restaurant is small and just walking distance from the park. It's run by a family and you can see all the members working there. The youngest son is the one in charge of doing the dishes, nice!

The food is typical Ecuadorian, but from highlands. They gave us a complimentary snack: chicharron and mote (pork and corn). Then we ordered our meal. Cynthia and Anthony got beef with lentils and rice. Kerry and me got yapingacho with fritada, which is like a platter having some fried pork, potato tortilla, salad and corn. Food was tasty and not pretentious at all.

The restaurant is small and is a bit loud since it's located on a big avenue, but somehow it's cozy inside. It's not fancy at all, but staff is very friendly and they make you feel at home, an Ecuadorian home.
