Of Mexico City's trendier cantinas -- Covadonga in Roma Norte, Xel-ha in Condesa -- La Bipolar has by far the best food, and at very reasonable prices. Service is friendlier than usual for DF, and the crowd tends to be younger than at either Covadonga or Xel-ha.
The menu has a pretty nice variety, and includes a number of vegetarian-friendly dishes -- including tacos de arrachera de tofu! I especially recommend the burrita de pescado empanizado, as well as the papas a la libanesa.  Part of the list Hidden (and not so hidden) culinary gems in Mexico, D.F.
