La Bermejita Ibarra Reviews
The authentic Ibarra Ice Creams at La Bermejita Jul 10, 2009
Ibarra doesn't have a traditional dish, but it's famous because of its ice creams made without milk. And this is the right place to try them. The family of the lady who prepared this ice creams for 1st time runs this place.
This cafe is small but very cozy. All the walls are covered with pictures of Ibarra, pictures of Rosalia (the lady) and prized she won. There are also some pieces of newspaper talking about her and her legacy. This place has 2 floors. The 2nd is just about tables, but in the middle of the 1st you would find 2 guys making the ice creams, the way Rosalia used to do a long time ago.
The staff is really friendly and takes good care of you. They give you the best suggestions, so your experience would be the best possible.
They serve pastries, fruit salads, cafes, sodas, but the highlight here are the ice creams, which are really tasty. Creamy, but not fat, and so many flavors to choose. Besides the usual ones, you'll find the local fruits too. If you are not sure which one to order, ask the clerk to make you try any one you'd like.
If you are in Ibarra, you HAVE TO stop here and trust me, ask for Mora and Guanabana. It's the perfect combination of sour and sweet.
Part of the First time in Ecuador, but definitely not the last one :) travel blog
