Gourmet Bus Stop - La 73 May 26, 2009
The restaurant was named after the bus stop across the street. It's considered a fusion restaurant, which mixes Peruvian cuisine with International one. The manager says: "We try to combine gourmet food in an informal atmosphere" and they succeed.
The place has a really nice atmosphere, with cool decoration. The outside patio is for smokers and has heaters for the cold days. Inside, the room has subway-tiled walls covered in art posters, really pop culture.
Some walls are covered with mirrors, others with posters and blackboards. The decoration is sort of trendy and funky. The only thing missing is music...
Now, the food... as the manager says, they serve gourmet food. We tried carpaccio, tuna, shrimps, as appetizers. All of them really good. Also my tuna tatake salad was delicious. The tuna was tender and fresh. Jasper & Jos got a steak which was really good and the gravy was according to Peruvian cuisine. They serve beef, fish, pastas, salads. The food is a fun mix of Peruvian classics but with a twist. The menu is not that wide, so the chef can focus very well in each dish. But they don't take care just about the taste, but also about the presentation of them. Good job! Desserts are supposed to be very yummy, but we were full and didn't try any, a reason to come back, hehe.
They have a good selection of wine, mostly Argentinean and Chilean. Also cocktails and softdrinks. Interesting lemonades.
The staff is very kind and helpful. Our waiter did a really good job! No complains about coming back to try the deserts, hehehe.
