A great place to meet people and have fun, there is always something going on. Cheap and comfortable rooms. I was in the girl dorm 229 which also had a hairdryer and straightners which is a nice touch. Good staff and a good time. Only -ve are hot water in the showers is hit and miss and the food could be better, Definaitely a good place to be in La Paz.

Fun, fun, fun Nov 06, 2009
I stayed 5 nights at LOKI in La Paz and I had a great time there. It is a lively, party type hostel, so don't go here expecting a quite night in. Its a big hostel (apx 150 beds), but has free internet and breakfast included (quite basic). The bar area is great for meeting people and starting the night off. The food isn't great, however, even compared to the LOKI in Cuzco.
The showers can be ridiculously hot (like almost scalding!), but its better than cold! I stayed in aa 6 bed dorm which was 50Bs a night, not too bad for La Paz. Overall, another good stay for me at LOKI. Part of the Adventures of an Essex boy: 'No entiendo' - the South America debacle travel blog |

We only stayed one night of our 6 nights in La Paz here. We were in a double room with ensuite, the room stunk but the guy apologised for this saying that they have had some problems with water damage or the like. However, the bathroom let out a terrible smell like a backlog, we werent told that breakfast was included therefore went out for breakfast. We asked one of the staff for a lighter (to light a scented candle to get rid of the smell) and he abruptly told us there was no smoking, on telling him why we wanted it, he rudely said there was one in the bar! Didnt offer to see what the problem was, staff didnt know the first thing about La Paz itself either. Most of the staff were rude and didnt care, I guess this is also reflected by the employment poster which read along the lines of "are you unmotivated and looking to save some money?" I guess they dont expect too much. The only thing going for it was the beds were good.
This hostel was only 6 months old but was far below the line, if youre going to open a hostel half-heartly then you need to match that with the prices!! We moved to a hotel in a better location with cable TV, ensuite. |

So needless to stay when trying to rest ones head in an Irish run hostel no-one really ever rests ones head it is go go go, drink drink drink, dance dance dance… La Paz: Simo´s Birthday Banaza and a Place called Vivonne´s |
