Affordable authentic Italian dinner experience in the middle of the old centre of Rome May 14, 2012
L'antica birreria peroni dal 1906 is a great restaurant in the middle of the tourist centre of Rome. It is located in a small but cosy alley.

The style of the restaurant is art nouveau and it gives the place a 1920's feel.

It's fairly cheap and many local Italians come to dine here. It costs about 30 euro's per person for a 3-course meal and some housewine. The portions are of normal size and the dishes are simple (don't expect to get any fancy garnish on your plate) but delicious!

Ofcourse the main drink at the restaurant is beer! Peroni is the biggest brand there but they have a wide selection for you to choose from.

The service is very kind and cheery and they'll help you gladly with any questions you have.

It is recommended though to make a reservation because it is well visited throughout the evening.

In short: we had a great time and as we sat there it felt like the real Italy instead of being surrounded by (other) tourists.
