Kyotokko: Kyoto's cheapest inn Reviews
Cheap and clean! Jan 28, 2009
Kyotokko is the name of supposedly the cheapest place to stay in Kyoto. It certainly was cheap at 2000yen each, and if you have a sleepig bag 1000yen each.
The hostel itself is situated around the corner from the impressive Nijo castle, and is set on multi levels.
The manager is a very helpful japanese guy, who doesnt speak much english but does as much as he can to help out.
The hostel has the usual ammentities free internet, self catering facilities, a sort of common room, and all the beds in the dorms had a curtain so you could make sure you have relative privacy.
The toilet just off the dorm room is probably the best toilet i have ever had the pleasure of shitting on. i was in kyoto in january and it was bloody cold, but there is nothing better than coming back to the hostel freezing and sitting on a toilet with a heated seat.
The only downside of the dorm room was the elderly japanese guy living there that got drunk every night and snored his heart out.
In the foyer there are numerous maps that have points of interest for travellers clearly stated, which is also great.
They also rent bicycles out, which are great for getting round Kyoto. There are also free umbrellas!
