Kyle of Lochalsh Overview

Kyle of Lochalsh (from the Scottish Gaelic Caol Loch Aillse, "strait of the foaming lake") is a village on the northwest coast of Scotland, 63 miles west of Inverness. It is located at the entrance to Loch Alsh, opposite the village of Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye. The Skye Bridge is located about a mile to the west.

The village is the transport and shopping center for the area. The surrounding scenery and wildlife are regarded as attractions of the village, as is the slow pace of life. Crofting as well as more recent crofting pursuits like salmon farming are some of the activities taking place in Kyle of Lochalsh.

The top-rated attraction here is the stunning Eilean Donan Castle overlooking Loch Duich.

* For anybody's information :
Eilean Donan Castle is situated in Dornie, 10 miles before Kyle of Lochalsh.
But the village is overlooking out at Castle Moil, ruins situated in Kyleakin.*

You can find all the main facilities in Kyle.
Banks, Co-op, chemist, Post Office, corner shops, restaurants, hostels, loads of BnBs, Buses and some gift shops too.
