One of the oldest temples in Bhutan, with by far the most picturesque prayer wheel! Dec 06, 2016
This is one of Bhutan's oldest temples constructed in the 7th century. It's about a 20 minute drive away from Paro town centre, and IMHO, a must-see. Folklore has it that in the 8th century, the temple was visited by Padmasambhava and it is believed he concealed many spiritual treasures here.

There's a courtyard, small one filled with orange trees. I'd have to say the atmo here reminded me so much of temples back in India, save for a lot of stray dogs that are allowed to wander inside the premises.

We happened to be there on a sacred day so there was a prayer going on inside, with the Chief priest and several interns.

To me, the best was the extremely colourful prayer wheels at the back of the temple. I could stand here for days just taking photos!
