Kuwait Towers Apr 08, 2013
Kuwait Towers are a national landmark, construction started in the early 1970's, opened to the public in 1979 or 80.

There are 3 towers, the tallest has 2 globes. The second one has one globe, probably to store water, and the third one is just a needle for lighting the other 2 towers.

Ticket not too expensive at all. Go to the tower with 2 globes. Lifts take you to the top. The upper globe has 2 levels - lower level serves snacks/coffee, and the upper (revolving) level for observation, with telescopes. You get a good view of most of populated Kuwait. Looking straight north across the bay of Kuwait, you can see a bridge to Bubiyan - a marshy island. You also get to see Failaka - the island with remains of the ancient Greeks.

My last visit was in 1999, and I could still see some signs of the 1990 invasion. Seems someone thought they could fire rockets at the towers and bring it down. Apparently the concrete is too strong for that - it supports globes containing water, so just imagine the strength of the concrete.

If you visit Kuwait, don't miss this - your visit will be incomplete without it.

The story behind the three towers
The journey to the Kuwait tower itself is a challenging one for me. No bus goes directly to the tower so I had to take a bus from the main bus station and had no idea where should I stop. When the…tower with an access to the viewing dock. I spent there, planning my next destination in Kuwait as most of the view of Kuwait City
