Kustavi Vacation Guide

Kustavi is a coastal town in the southwest of Finland that incorporates over two-thousand islands. It is known as a resort town in the summer when people flock there for boating, fishing, hiking, camping, and many other outdoor activities. In addition to outdoor activities, there is also an old Russian Tsar's fortress that was constructed in the early 1800s that is located on an island. This is a nice boat trip of about one hour in each direction.

Many accomodations in Kustavi are available only in the summer as very few tourists visit during other times of the year. The nearest airport to Kustavi is Turku Airport; from there it will be about a two-hour drive to Kustavi.

The cuisine in Kustavi is similar to that of the rest of Finland, primarily seafood. Customs unique to Kustavi - and other parts of Finland - include wooden toilets (similar to outhouses) and, of course, the sauna.The sauna has been a part of Finnish tradition for many years and is used for both relaxation and cleansing.
