Kusillus Hostel Lima Reviews

Quiet and basic accomodation in Lima Sep 23, 2012
Kusillus Hostel offers both private rooms and dorm beds at cheap prices in the heart of Miraflores area. The location of the hostel is excellent with Parque Central and beach within few minutes of walk. I decided to stay here because the fellow TB who I decided to travel with was staying here already for few days and recommended the place. The hostel is pretty quiet and the front door is always locked. The guests need to use the buzzer and somebody from the reception opens the automatic lock to let people in. The reception is open 24 hours so it’s not a problem.

Since my flight landed very late (12am) I decided to book the airport shuttle through the hostel. This way I didn’t need to haggle with the taxi drivers in some unknown place at midnight. The price was very reasonable ($14) and I am glad that I used their service. You pay for the shuttle at the hostel reception along with the room fees. They accept both USD and Peruvian Soles.

The dorm room has bunk beds and a bathroom (ensuite) which was pretty clean. They have medium sized lockers that I never used. I noticed that they don’t have a lock for the door of this dorm but whoever is sitting at the reception have a clear view of the door so maybe it was fine. They offer basic breakfast e.g. bread, jam, butter, juice, tea, coffee etc and the dining area along with their nice rooftop terrace are great places for socializing. I chatted with few travelers and eventually bumped into one of them few days later in Huacachina desert. It’s a small world indeed!

There is a cozy lounge beside the reception with two computers with internet connection and a TV. The hostel also has free wi-fi but there was hardly any signal inside the dorm room. It was fine in the dining area and the lounge though. There is a supermarket within a block where people can buy water and groceries and prepare their meals in the hostel kitchen. Overall I liked the warm and homey vibe of this hostel and will definitely recommend it to those who like noise-free atmosphere at night.
