Kusatsu Vacation Guide

Kusatsu is a small Onsen town located in the north of Gunma.
Set just next to the Joshin-Etsu-Kogen national park, it is surrounded by forest and mountains.

The onsen town is built around the Yubatake, the source of its hot water. The steaming water streams over wooden flats and is pumped to the bath houses, where it is possible to watch Yumomi, the traditional water mixing dance which cools the water to desired temperatures.

The traditional bath houses are located all over the town, as are soba restaurants, man-ju stalls and plenty of omiyage (souvenir) shops.

i've finally managed to escape the oh-so-fascinating world of hedge fund finance, and am now decadently indulging my long-suppressed wanderlust with 15 months on the road and around the world... *note: apart from the odd review (generally of something not found in your standard guide book), this is really more just a map of my travels than a proper blog, but if you want more information on anywhere i`ve been or what i`ve been up to, send me a message and i`ll see if i can rustle something up.
