The restaurant name is taken from the food, "kupat tahu". Actually, it is not a restaurant, but more a "warung" or a small and simple traditional restaurant. So, do not expect a cozy ambiance.
Kupat Tahu is a traditional food from Magelang, Central Java. The food consists of kupat or ketupat (rice cake that boiled in a rhombus-shaped packet of plaited young coconut leaves) and tahu (tofu). It is also added with bean sprout, leek, and kerupuk (traditional cracker) with fresh sour spicy tamarind dressing. If we want, we can add ommelette and extra kerupuk or peyek (peanuts fried with flour). If you are not an Indonesian and your stomach is not made of steel, you better be careful in tasting this food. But, if spicy and sour food is not a matter for you, it is recommended ;-) Hmmmm.... talking about it makes me want it.... :P |
