K's House Kyoto Reviews
K's House Kyoto Apr 03, 2008
As one of the most expensive country to travel in the world, K's House in Kyoto is really going to change the preception on Japan's hotels.
Owned by Katsuhiko (thus it's K's house), it rated among the lowest quarter of hotels in the Kyoto's prime district, yet, very comfortable to stay, in my experience, at the very least. I felt many things were at ease since the early reservation, up until the provided guiding map to reach the hotel, and during my stay. Shared dormitory is at Y 2,000 and private room is Y 3,000, a deal that is very hard to find in Japan. All rooms are all air conditioned, modernly furnished, well maintained and their kitchen is superbly clean ! Evidence for these great experiences can easily be found at the wall-board at the living room, where postcards from impressed guests from all over the world, shows their testimonials. I was very lucky to have opted this place. Common shower room is within reach, and spacious (space is Japan's luxury). Bicycle rent at Y 700 per day, and you can purchase all the available bus ticket, personal needs (tooth paste, towell rent etc) from the receptionist. One word of advise: don't arrive before 7 AM, as the reception may not be opened, so checking-in is difficult to process. |

Travelling on a yen! Mar 08, 2007
It was an absolutely great place to stay when you are on a budget and even when you are not. The staff was friendly and curteous. They would make sure you were settled in, tell you where you could find some great places to eat. The people staying there with me were from all over the world and we would stay up sharing stories and beverages *wink, wink*! I stayed in a room with three complete strangers because I went on my own but they made me feel welcomed.
Another great thing was that they accepted American credit cards so I didn't have to stop at the atm for cash. If I am ever in Kyoto again the K's House Hostel is where you will find me! Part of the My home for four months...The Land of the Rising Sun travel blog
