Krynica-Zdrój is one of the ost well known health-restorts descirbed as the "The Pearl of Polish". It is located in the Beskid Sądecki mountains in the valley of the Kryniczanka river and it's two tributaries Palenica and Czarny Potok. It is within reach of one of Polands better known cities Krakow.
First historcial record of Krynica are from 1547 and Krynica started to become a health resort from 1793 due to the natural springs in the surrounding lands bought people from far and wide. Over time visitor numbers decreased and a new wave of invsetemnt bought the town back to live with many new mineral bath houses, the pavilian on the promendade and new churches. Between the two wars Krynica's winter faciliteis grew, and during the communist occupation many new builidngs sprung up including new hotels and the new drinking gallery.
Continued investement into the area to cater for tourists with prlenty or restaruants, bars and clubs. A gondola lift was built in 1997 on the Jaworzyna Krynicka, a mountain overlooking Krynica, and subsequent investment in modern skiing facilities made it one of the most important ski resorts in Poland. Nearby mountains are also a perfect setting for cross-country skiing and mountain-biking.
