Kruje Vacation Guide
Kruje is a picturesque mountain town northeast of Tirana, the capitol. It has a very steep road that connects it with the lower town.
Kruje has commanding views of dramaticaly snow capped mountains and green valleys below. There is an ancient citadel that outlasted four Ottoman seiges. It is said that the success of the Albanians during the seiges of Kruje saved Europe fromt the Ottomans.
There is a museum here for Skandenburg who became a hero for his military strategy and sucess here at Kruje. They are very proud of his achievements.
Also in the upper town are great expamples of Albanian mountain houses in good and disrepair, a 1000 year old bazaar where you may find beautiful handmade rugs, handcrafted silver fillagree, ethnic clothing, and best of all, the frienliness of the Albanian people.
The views from just about anywhere is Kruje are panoramic. If you visit, you will never forget it.
