Kroombit Park Biloela Reviews
For the real "country" experience Dec 07, 2012
Kroombit Park is a stay-over farm experience you can book at the Lockenbar cattle station. A 24 hour stay give you a taste of country life and what cattle farming is all about.
Upon arrival in the afternoon, we got the key to room number 2. It's a small cabin with a single bed, and a bunk bed with double on the bottom. I believe this to be a family room. Rooms don't have their own facilities. Showers and toilets are a little further in the other block. Needless to say it is all really basic. However a towel and soap was provided.
The public areas are partly open air, partly covered. There's an impromptu bar and tables and benches made from tree trunks.
People come here for a taste of country life and that's what you'll get. You get introduced to lasso throwing, trap shooting (paid) and get to participate in an actually goat rodeo.
After the roast beef dinner at night, there's story telling, cracking a whip and your chance to ride the mechanical bull.
The next day there are also some paid activities such as quad biking and horse riding annex mustering goats.
The facilities are very basic but that's all part of the experience. 24 hours is a good time span to get a taste of farming life.
Our stay included the arrival in the afternoon, the lasso throwing, goat rodeo, roast beef dinner, whip cracking and bull riding on the first night. The next day we had the full breakfast and a beef steak lunch. Since we were part of a tour, I do not know the actual value of this package, but in terms of fun it is really worth giving it a try.
