Beautiful boat ride to some beautiful falls Apr 12, 2011
When staying in Split, KRKA national park was one place which kept popping up as a 'must see'. The overall cost was, i thought, relatively cheap. However this was mostly due to the extremely good exchange rate. To get their we initially had to take two buses, the change over of buses was relatively easy due to how small their bus stations are in Croatia. Eventually we arrived at Sibenik, from here you have two options of travel for getting to KRKA: walking the nature trail, or taking a scenic boat ride. We chose the latter and it was well worth it, the sight of such natural, untainted beauty was astounding! (Also this was a much much quicker route, if i remember correctly walking took over an hour and we were limited for time). After a not very long boat ride we arrived. Here, you have to pay an entrence fee of around 60 Kuna (about £7). Once your in the National Park your surrounded by trees and fresh springs. There are a few food and drink stalls, available toilets and stretches of grass where people were sunbathing and picnicing. However, what you come to see is the magnificant water falls...we went for a swim in them, the water refreshing, clear and cool. After that, we lay out on the grass and enjoyed the sun and beauty which surrounded us. I can't recommend it enough, i would love to revisit it one day, and if your ever in Croatia, i suggest you take time to journey here!

The waterfalls of Krka Jun 13, 2011
Very nice place to go. We went there in 2009, august.

At that time it was crawling with people and the parking lot was overheated with both waiting people and temperature.

But when you are past the entrance and making your way down to the actual park, things become very very nice.

You can already see the waterfalls from above, but from floor level it is all much nicer. One can take the bus down, but we recommend going by foot. You are not crammed in a bus with all other tourists, and you can already enjoy the views when walking down.

Another tip is to take your swimwear along. Even though many people are swimming there, which does make it crowded. It is something you really should do. The water is clear and warm, and the idea of swimming right next to the waterfall makes it even nicer.

Krka National Park is about an hour away from Split, but it is worth going to if you like the outdoors. Basically, it is a leafy valley with crystal clear waters and impressive waterfalls. There is one main walking path that runs through the park, and at the end of the path are large, beautiful cascading waterfalls that spill out into pools where you can go swimming. The drawbacks of the park are that it is difficult to get to if you don't have a car, the swimming area can get a bit crowded, and overweight men can be seen prancing around in tight speedos.
Schools of fish in the clear water.
Nice waterfalls.

I went to KRKA from Split and we didn't have a car. You can buy bus tickets from Split bus station, ask for tickets to Sibenik/KRKA. Altogether you need to take two buses but the change over is relatively easy due to how small the second bus station is. Once we arrived in Sibenik, we took the boat to was beautiful, well worth it i thought!
