Kristiansand Dyrepark

I've visited Kristiansand a couple of times in my life so far. And I've enjoyed it tremendously each time. Kristiansand is quite a large town in the south-west of Norway, and my favourite attraction there is the Kristiansand Dyrepark. Dyrepark is the norwegian word for "zoo". The park is not very big, but it has an incredible atmosphere, it's nice and cozy. In the zoo you can see wolves, lions (pretty new addition), giraffes, lamas, regular farm animals in the petting zoo, and many more. My two favourites is the lynx, which I really can't explain why, I've just always loved that animal. The second one is a monkey called Julius, he's a TV-star. He was raised by humans here in Norway, and they made a television series about it. He is a star, and the funny part is that he knows it, he shows off for the crowd:P

The park also has a show in the evenings, with pirates. I guess it's mostly for kids, but I love it still. It's pirates and singing, does it get any better? The downside of course is that the shows are all held in norwegian, so it's not really something for the tourists.

But the Kristiansand zoo isnt the only attraction of the town. During the summer you can go to a lot of festivals there. The town has a special lazy feel to it in the summer, and it's a great town to visit if you want to listen to good music, relax, take a beer, go swimming. And if you want to do something special you can take a trip to the zoo or you can visit one of the towns other attractions like; salmon fishing, botanical garden, The Night gallery and of course the city itself with its ancient wooden houses. Kristiansand is a great place to spend the summer.
