This little mountain town (altitude of 1067 metres) in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Zillertal Arena is famous for being the location of Europe's highest waterfall. The Krimmler Ache droop 380 metres in 3 steps.
The presence of the waterfall is said to have a beneficial effect on ones health, especially on those suffering from respiratory diseases.
When you walk all the way up next to the falls, you'll end up in the Krimmler Achental (the Krimml Achen Valley). The scenic path up is entirely paved. It is sometimes a bit steep, but nowhere dangerous.
The WasserWunderWelt (Wonder World of Water), on the other side of the road facing the waterfalls, is a great visit with kids. The best day to visit is when it's warm and sunny, as there are several water features that can cool you down. But on a rainy day it is interesting as well, as there is a quite large indoor informative area.
