Kotzebue Vacation Guide

Kotzebue is located in Northwest Alaska along the Bering Sea and about thirty miles above the Arctic Circle. The town is situated on a spit of land which is between 1100 and 3600 feet wide and three miles long. Its population of about 3200 comprises mostly Inupiat Eskimos who have inhabited the region for the past 600 years.

The three major river systems; the Noatak, the Selawik, and the Kobuk which drain into the Kotzebue Sound, combined with its seasonal port and year-round modern runway, make Kotzebue the central shipping and urban center for all of Northwest Alaska.
