Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia
Kota Kinabalu Reviews

Malaysian airlines are terrible. give yourself plenty of time before and after and dont book tours that line updirectly with flights. expect delays... Air Asia were pretty good and very competitive.
Travel by Road:
Expect delays. FLooding regularly washes out roads and causes landslides. its not best to rely on travel by road. expect ridiculous delays.
Take plenty of really good insect repellent. not aerogaurd but the industrial strength stuff with at least 10% DEET from camping/hiking stores.
you can also buy good stuff there..
It's very safe and reasonably cheap (not as cheap as Thailand). Food was good. we never got sick...
Just dont expect the people to be particularly helpful or understand English as well as they appear to.
Be careful how you word your questions and listen carefully to their answers as it can get confusing.
eg if you ask "Are there no more buses?" they will smile and nod and say "yes". This doesnt mean that there IS buses but that they are agreeing that there are NO more buses.... get it?
