Koper Vacation Guide
Koper, Slovenia's largest port is also the largest town on the Slovenian Adriatic coast. Sights in Koper include 15th century Praetorian Palace in Venetian Gothic style, the 12th century Carmine Rotunda church, and the Cathedral of St Nazarius with its 14th century tower. Praetor's Palace (Palazzo Pretorio) is the symbol of Koper. It is situated in the centre of the old city on the south side of Glavni trg (Main Square), It was built in the 15th century and is a mixture of Gothic and Renaissance styles.
The city Loža (loggia) stands on the north side of Glavni trg(Main Square), It was built in 1462 in Gothic style with five arches facing the square and four on the left side. The architects were Nicolà from Piran and Tomaso from Venice. Praetorian Palace is situated in Titov trg. This is the centre of Old Koper. It has many interesting buildings in this area & it's closed to trafiic as much of the Old Town in Koper. The southern boundary of the Old Town is marked by Vojkovo nabrezje and Pristaniska ulica, which form a kind of ring road, and the northern boundary is the industrial area of the modern docks. Pristaniska ulica runs along the sea front where there is a promenade, a marina, and some small parks. The bus and railway stations are right next to each other.Getting around Koper is simplicity itself. You walk. Koper has enough charm of its own to warrant at least a day-trip, and its good transport links make it a good base to explore the surrounding area.
