Kona Kai Resort and Spa San Diego

Kona Kai Resort Spa And Marina Hotel San Diego is a great place to hold a small-to-medium sized meeting, espeically for the US government which gets a discounted rate. The 13,000 square feet of indoor space could accomodate our group of 100 in one large gathering and had several spaces for "break-out" rooms. (This is probably not big enough for a large 1,000+ attendee convention event.) The 23,000 square feet of outdoor space encompassing courtyards and gardens, as well as a private beach, was also impressive! The pool was great and included an outdoor hot tub spa for relaxing after those all-day government meetings.

There is free internet connection and transportation to/from San Diego Airport which is less than 15 minutes away. The view of the harbor and North Island NAS was fantastic, especially when the large transport ships and cruise liners passed by.

There are a few bars/restaurants within walking distance, but for real variety you need to get to the downtown/oil lamp district. There was a great sushi place on the Shelter Island Drive access road, might have been called Umi Sushi, which had great food.
