We had a very good deal, ideal location, nice beach! Jan 08, 2010
The accommodation is comfortable. Our room was spacious, clean and we felt safe. We had a safe in the room for our valuables and a balcony from which we could see the beach and at night hear the ocean waves. We were there in January and had no problems with mosquitoes, also at that time of year the nights are cool so no need for A/C or even a fan! We had a mini fridge in our room and we stocked it with cans, juice and water after a trip to the supermarket. There's a few restaurants in the hotel and we tried most of them, for me they were nothing special but personally I didn't find anything really good anywhere in Gambia, unless you visit a local family and get them to cook you some proper Gambian food... which is delicious!

The hotel is made up of 4 or 5 building blocks with a little garden around and in between, then there's the pool area around which there's the bar and various restaurants and reception. The whole hotel is surrounded by trees and feels secluded enough. There's two areas from which you can access the beach and the hotel provides sun loungers. Most people get up at 7am to go leave their beach towel under an umbrella to save their spot for the day, if you go a little later you can still get an umbrella and you get a plastic sun bed instead of a wood one... it's no big deal! The beach is a long stretch on sand and right next to the hotel is the area where Gambian ladies prepare plates of fresh fruit, local men have a juice bar, for fresh fruit juice and there's a small arts and crafts market for the tourists (all they sell there can be found more cheaply in Serrekunda market).

I then visited the Karaiba and Senegambia hotels (just briefly, I didn't sty there...though the hotels are higher class beware that the beach in front of them is really not very nice!) I would recommend this place as it has the best stretch of beach in front of it!
