Kolpinghaus Hotel Salzburg

The Kolpinghaus is a dorm during the school year, but beginning in July it opens up as a hotel. The single beds are very comfortable, the showers are hot, and the rooms have plenty of storage space which makes it ideal for those spending more than just a few days in Salzburg. The building is clean and modern.

Internet access is free, but you will need to have an ethernet cable to log on. Breakfast is alright, but lunch and dinner are even better. These meals are cooked daily by local chefs. There is a laundry room and workout room on the ground (basement) floor. There is also a bar that serves good pizza, mixed drinks, and beer at a reasonable price. The bartenders are hard-working and very friendly, and both remembered me on my second visit a year later. There are usually many young American teenagers in the Kolpinghaus, but fortunately they are not allowed alcohol and are usually made to leave the bar before midnight.

The staff is extremely friendly, and I recommend asking them for any advice you may need on exploring the city.
