Koko. Gospoda Krakow Reviews
Student magnet, always busy Oct 27, 2013
I was recommended this restaurant on a few separate occasions by some locals and I wasn't disappointed. A few streets from the main square and with very low prices, it's easy to see why it's very popular with students.
As with many places in Krakow you can head down underground and with limited spaces at street level this will probably be a necessity. Lunch times are especially busy and we had more success at obtaining a table nearer 12 than 2 (we tried 3 days) or perhaps you can stand and wait.
Although I suspect they are more accustom to catering for locals, there are English menu's (yellow) and a young barmaid was happy to go through and explain the dishes in further detail. Rather like a canteen you need to queue up at a till to place your order and pay, which can take a little time, but the service is good and the food will probably arrive quicker than it took to pay for it.
Tables and are scattered wherever there is floor space and the low lighting creates a pleasant atmosphere. The types of food you can expect are Kotlet Schabowy (breaded meat), Pierogi (stuffed dumplings) and Zurek (sour rye soup) from around 8 zloty. It's cheap and cheerful but don't mistake this for poor quality, it's great.
