Kodama Kagoshima Reviews
Best value and delicious set of Satsuma dishes! Oct 06, 2010
Located across the street on the right side of the Kagoshima-Chuo Station, Kodama Restaurant is one of the best restaurants - in value and taste, I have been during my Kyushu trip.
A local restaurant, recommended by the Information Center staff in Kagoshima-chuo Station for Satsuma dishes, I was happy asked for their recommendation and I listened!
The decor of this restaurant is simple, visted by locals and offers a great deal for lunch.
Ask for their English menu (eigo no menu) which they will gladly offer.
I recommend the Satsuma Lunch Set. Only 1800yen (~$18), you can try the Kaogshima (Satsuma) delicacies that is their specialty in the region!
[Tip: If you get took a Kagoshima Food Guide form the Information Center in Kagoshima-Chuo Station) there is a 10-15% discount!]
A Satsuma lunch set consists of 4 popular dishes in the region: miso-oden (miso-based stew), satsuma-age (fried seasoned fish cake), Kagoshima local chicken sashimi, Kibinago (small fish from herring family) sashimi. It also includes: rice, miso soup, and sweet egg omelette.
