Kobariski Museum (Kobarid Museum)
Kobariski Museum (Kobarid Museum) Reviews
May 28, 2006
This area of Slovenia was a principal area of fighting between Italy and Austria/Germany in World War I. As an American this museum presented a side of the war that I had not seen or heard much about. We had been presented that WWI brought new horrors of war with trench warfare and the like but the exhibits in this museum brought that so much more fully to light. A very interesting, yet sobering glimpse into that time. Also has some exhibits of Ernest Hemingway who served in that area at the time and whose novel "A Farewell to Arms" (set in Caporetto, the Italian name for Kobarid) is based on his experiences in this region.
