Knockree Hostel

The people at Knockree Hostel go out of their way to make sure you have a good stay. Situated on a hillside facing the northern edge of the Wicklow Mountains, the staff are very knowledgeable about good hiking routes and other outdoor activities in the area. They've also got a deal with a pub in a nearby town, so that if you drink or dine there, they'll drive you back to the hostel for free.

Following this, the only downside that can be said for the hostel is that it is a good walk to get anywhere if you don't have a car. It's a 1.5 mile/2.4 km walk to the bus stop. That said, it's a beautiful walk through green, hilly countryside. If you have some time on your hands, you can get to Dublin in 1-1.5 hours.

Anyway, the hostel itself is kept very clean and the lodging spaces are very comfortable -- clean showers, clean & comfy beds. Though people from separate parties do get put in the same room sometimes, the rooms themselves are very safe from non-room residents, you have to use an electronic key to get in.

Overall: Great place to stay for outdoor underakings, and not too far from Dublin.
