Thai inspired dishes in a wonderful setting Oct 14, 2013
Kittichai is a Thai inspired restaurant with an elegant ambiance. The bar area is chic with colorful orchids in tall vases lining the walls.

The dishes were great and delicious, but small in portion and pricey. The dishes are meant to be shared.

Appetizers are between $7-15, entrees $20-40 and desserts $7-10. The Asian-inspired cocktails were delicious at $12-16. I love my lychee martini!

We ordered the day boat scallops to start and enjoyed it. The bbq baby back ribs with its spiced tamarind glaze was delish. The duck confit salad was okay -nothing to rave about. Dessert-wise, it was so-so. We ordered the chocolate fondant cake w/ lychee sorbet which was good but not a good pairing - tasted better separately.

DELICIOUS Apr 08, 2011
Not your typical thai food (dont think there was a noodle dish on the menu) but it was amazing. Food and cocktails were great. I strongly recommend it

Not your average Thai Jul 22, 2008
Nouveau Thai - if there ever was such a term. This hip and trendy place has taken Thai food to a whole new level.

The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, a new take on the popular white(ish) lounge bar interior with pastel coloured lighting. It's full of original new takes on common features, like wall lighting that makes use of bottles of water with orchids, or a fish tank in a bird cage!

The food is equally visually stunning, and tastes excellent on top of that. The menu is an innovative take on well-known Thai flavours (braised beef in green curry, shashimi with squid ink, fish cakes with chili alioli) with some very unique surprises (chocolate marinated baby ribs? aged sirloin in fermented black bean and whisky sauce?).

It's not cheap, but certainly not the most expensive Manhattan restaurant either. Highly recommended!
