Kirtipur Kathmandu Reviews
Old Satellite Settlement of Kathmandu valley Feb 01, 2013
In vicino to Kathmandu we reached Kirtipur by Cycling at south west corner of Kathmandu. This is one of oldest satelite settlement of Kathmandu valley with majority of native Newar people. Its situated on hill top and dense houses in the core but nice greenery at surroundings. The views from here is very good with valley view and panoramic mountain at north wall of Kathmandu. Old houses on the row at both side of the path and children playing at small courtyards. Old houses with wood carved windows and doors is nice to see and most people from farmer's generation live in this houses still.
After go around from the narrow terracotta alleyes and crossing few temples we arrive at one of food junction where they served typical traditional Newari lunch. The food name Baji set is typical newari food from local place. It was included with Chhoyela(roasted meat on hays and mixed with masala spicies) Beaten Rice, Lentil Pan Cake, Curry, Pickle, Beans etc and one more thing is Aalu Tama (Beans and potato Soup with bamboo soothes). It was excellent lunch I ever had from years. They also serve Rice Beer there call Chhyang.
We have sitted on terrace at third floor of building and sun was hot, View surrounding was beautiful. We enjoyed Kirtipur in fullest.
