Kinnitty Castle Jun 21, 2007
Kinnitty Castle is a castle in Kinnitty, County Offaly, Ireland. It is located north of the Slieve Bloom Mountains on the R421 regional road between the villages of Kinnitty and Cadamstown.

Nice Quiet Place, It burned in the 1800's and now is decorated in victorian style at present but very nice. No band as promised for thursday in brochuer due to lack of patrons was what staff told us but they had a band on Fri and sat night in the Dungeon Bar. Over all Pretty nice, There are very nice walk ways around the Castle, The Library has a bar in it with snack food if you want. The Main dining area opened up at 6pm we had to Watresses and the food was just plain Awsum, Melted in your mouth. Tina enjoyed the Clawfoot Bathtub especiall after 24 hours of traveling from the states. Staff was wonderfull they carried our bags from the car to the room. They advertised Crossbow shooting, and Falconry but you have to reserve those way ahead of time and schedule them.. Kinnitty is also a local favorite for Irelanders to have weddings there. Kinnitty does it all see the websight for more info.

A pyramid was built by the Bernard family who resided in Kinnitty Castle, on the site of St. Finnians monastery, the high cross of which is still situated on the site.

From 1955 to 1985, Kinnitty Castle hosted a Forestry Training College. It is now a hotel.

Kinnity castle is a little Pricey but still nice>

I am currently reading your blogs on your travels in Europe and am finding them most intereting. My 20 year old daughter, her girlfriend and myself are also in the planning stages of our trip to Ireland. We have tickets for flights arriving June 16 and leaving June 29. Would like to hit mostly west and northern Ireland and hopefully London. Do you have any advice. I have family in the Sligo and Donegal area thats why we are headed that way mostly and I really really want to see the Giants Causeway. Thanks much,
