Kinlay House Dublin Reviews
great hostel if you can stand the noise Sep 21, 2008
This hostel was great in all aspects, except if you dont like noisy rooms. There was constant auto traffic, and if felt like the bed could have been on the road. If you stay in the double bed room facing the main street, dont expect to get much sleep after about 7am. There are tons of busses that stop on both sides of the street in front of the hostel and when they take off from a stop, they make tons of noise.
But like i said, the hostel was great in all other aspects. Great location, friendly staff. maybe the other rooms not on the main street are a little quieter... |

Kinlay House Dublin Nov 22, 2007
Kinlay House Dublin was hard to find, at least for me and my friend Dave. From the airport, we took the Bus 123 that travelled to O'Connell St. From O'Connell, we walked to Lord Edward Street...thinking that it would be closer. As fate would have it, it took us almost an hour of walking trying to find the hostel. We didn't realized that Lord Edward St. was Dame St...somewhere in the middle of Dame St. it changed to Lord Edward St. This is the only hostel we could find that's available and closer to Temple Bar District. It's not a bad location once you get yourself accquainted with the area. The rooms were alright. It has that "old" smell and look. So my advice, keep the windows open. The staff wasn't friendly or rude, they're just there to check you in and out. Don't forget your AC converter, you'll end up buying for 6 EUR. The rooms have no footlocker so don't forget your locks in your backpack. They have a safe for your valuables and a one time fee of 3 EUR. The bathroom was okay. The doors have no lock and it's not very clean. Hot water wasn't working and the water was freezin' cold! The hostel has a lot of groups and it can get noisy at times.

My walk from the Bar to the main road where the Radical Travels office was located (The Kinlay House), was a mess. It's bad enough my stupid duffelbag had a broken wheel, it was worse walking on a road with broken glass, piss, a stench, the works.

This hostel, Abraham House, is also very
good for the money. The rooms have ensuite bathrooms! What more can I
say? I'm really enjoying being back in the city. Sitting here,
drinking a smoothie, and typing away on the Internet. It's also very
nice to give my skin a break from all that sun. Considering it was well
over 95 degrees… Back in Dublin! and loving it! |
