YD13 - Ingleton, 3 rivers, waterfalls and limestone pavement. Oct 31, 2010
Not everything here is free. The Waterfalls walk is the only one I know where there is a charge for riverside walks in the Yorkshire Dales. Much as I resent it, I have to say that it is worth the entrance fee, especially after heavy rain.

Two rivers, the Twiss and the Doe, join at Ingleton to form the Greta. The Waterfalls walk goes up the Twiss, across below the wonderful limestone pavement of Twistleton Scar (this, at least, is free) and down the Doe.

After heavy rain the waterfalls are very impressive and there are a lot of them. We used to keep a static caravan at Beezley's farm, just before you rejoin the paying walk by the Doe. Naturally we did not often pay but we very much enjoyed the free walks inn the area.

The road up past Beezley's to the church at Chapel-le-Dale is great in primrose time - violets and cowslips as well. Th church has a memorial to men killed during the building of the railway - erected at the expense of their workmates. Generous employers? You could fool me!
