King's Park - must see destination in Perth Sep 28, 2009
King's Park is beautiful national park covering 400 hectares in the centre of Perth. This includes nearly 280 hectares of bushland. It is a stones throw from the central Business district and comes top of the list for any visitor to Perth.

Explore the Aboriginal history of the park and the diverse flora of western Australia. If visiting during spring time, the wild flowers on display are breathtaking. Enjoy a day out with friends and family with facilities on site for BBQ, Kiosk, toilets. The park information centre is excellent and they conduct regular guided tours through the day. This also includes a Aboriginal culture experience. Near the Kiosk on Fraser Avenue, you would find a shop which is well worth a visit.

The park has ample car parking available, but often tends to fill up completely during the weekends. So, if visiting make it a point to be early. The sunrise from the park is worth an early rise.

For more information, visit the park website at:
www.bgpa.wa.gov.au

I have attached some photos of wild flowers with this brief review and hopefully you will like it.

World's largest inner city park Sep 11, 2009
Kings Park is an oasis in Perth's inner city. As indicated in the title, its claim to fame is as the world’s largest inner city park and it is home to a wide range of native plants and animals. It is located literally minutes from the CBD (central business district) and offers unrivalled views of the Swan River and Perth city skyline. Kings Park is a great viewing point if you are in town for the Australia Day fireworks on January 26th each year.

There are guided tours available for anyone wanting to learn about the park, the flora and fauna and Western Australian history. Kings Park houses the state War Memorial, in honour of West Australians who have died at war. There are picnic and barbecue facilities, public toilets and playgrounds at several locations in Kings Park. There are also several cafes and a restaurant located within the park. For fitness fanatics, there is Jacobs Ladder, a 242 step staircase down to Mounts Bay Rd – try running up and down that a few times!

The best time to enjoy Kings Park is in the spring, as the park is filled with native wildflowers that are in full bloom. All in all, Kings Park is a great starting point to familiarise yourself with the city, get your bearings, enjoy the panoramic views and soak up the beautiful Perth sunshine. I would recommend it as a top place to see to anyone visiting Perth! Pack a picnic and enjoy a relaxing day out.
