Kings Island Amusement Park Mason Reviews
Feb 28, 2007
Sure, Ohio's not the tourist hotbed, but one thing we can claim are some pretty cool amusement parks. I get to see the Eiffel Tower replica every day driving home so I figured I should review the park at some point here.
King's Island is home to numerous rides and other attractions. But it's always the roller coasters that get the press. Kings Island sets a high standard at the park. Among the highlights:
The Beast - the gold standard of wooden coasters and still, I believe, the longest wooden coaster in the world. (coming up on 30 years old). Ride at night for the best effect.
Son of Beast - an updated wooden coaster that opened in 2000. Shorter than The Beast, but taller and faster. Suffers a bit from not being back in the woods in my opinion.
Vortex - an early generation steel coaster
The Racer - classic dualtrack racing coasters
A water park is also part of the overall park complex.
While the park is a fun experience a single day ticket is $45 (discounts can often be found). Also cheap(er) season passes have made the park a dumping ground for kids during the summer and a cheap and easy "adventure" for many local vacationers. Avoiding weekends is highly recommended. Also check out Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio (I may review that at some later time).
So if you find yourself in southwest Ohio for some reason there's at least something to do.
