An exciting theatre space Jun 17, 2017
Since the 16th century, there has been a pub on the spot where the Kings Head stands today. The present pub is housed in a nineteenth century building.

It is a pleasant, interestingly decorated place to drink a variety of beers, ciders, and harder drinks. It is popular with locals.

In 1970, Dan Crawford took over the pub, and converted the room behind it from being a boxing ring to a small theatre. Over the decades, the theatre has put on many plays, mostly well-reviewed. The few that I have seen there have been better than average. In the past, it was possible to have a meal inside the theatre before the show. Since, Crawford (1942-2005) died, the theatre has become a business that is independent of the pub, and the meals served in the auditorium are now a thing of the past.

However, the shows go on! And, their performance quality continues to excel.

This is a great place to have a drink, and then to enjoy some great drama.
