Kimal Hotel San Pedro De Atacama Reviews

Nights in adobe Mar 28, 2008
Hotel Kimal is situated on an unpaved road in the small village of San Pedro de Atacama, an oasis in the arid Atacama desert. This town is an ideal location for excursions to the desert and the Andes mountains. That's why it attracts many tourists and although there is a good choice of hotels, most are overpriced. I think Kimal is also value for too much money, on the other hand I do recommend this charming hotel.

The hotel is situated behind a earthen wall, which means that you won't see it from the road. But a big sign next to the small entrance fence can't be overseen.
The hotel complex exists of a number of narrow streets around a series of small houses with walled terraces. The houses have been constructed with vulcanic stones and walls of clay. The roofs are made of wood and don't look solid. In fact they don't close for 100%, but relax, you're in the Atacama: it never rains here. The rooms are of the category primitive, but this really is its charm. First thing you should do, is to look for the candles and matches, for electricity is one thing you cannot rely on...
And yes, there's a small swimming pool.
