Kim Tho Hotel Can Tho Reviews
Surprisingly comfortable inside, when juging by the outside Jul 22, 2013
The Kim Tho hotel is a modern three star hotel in the center of Can Tho, next to the Ninh Kieu River and less than 5 minutes’ walk from the boat terminal. It’s the perfect home base from which to discover the Mekong Delta. Even though the lobby and public areas look very modest and perhaps even a bit shabby, our room turned out to be one of the largest and most comfortable of this trip! The hotel houses 51 rooms on 12 floors, so the chance you’ll end up at a room with a view is quite large!
There are only 2 elevators for 12 floors, so this means that it’s always a long wait or even queue, no matter which time of the day.
The lobby is probably the shabbiest looking part of the hotel, which is weird, because here you get the first impression of the place. You’d expect they would renovate this first. There are worn out but very comfy sofas and a computer with internet access.
We were allocated a very spacious corner room. Spacious is perhaps an understatement here – the room was large enough to dance in! It featured wooden floors and two double beds, a desk, and a coffee table with two chairs. There is a kettle in the cupboard in the hall and plenty of tea and coffee on the desk annex dresser. Like in every Vietnamese hotel, complimentary water bottles, bathrobes and slippers are provided too.
The bathroom is a ballroom in itself too. There’s a separate shower as well as an enormous bath tub. This tub is almost large enough to swim in! And there are plenty of toiletries– so no need to bring your vanity case.
Wifi is available free of charge, both in the room and lobby. It is password protected (code is on the room key) and rather slow.
Being on one the 6th floor surely caters for nice views on the river.
Walking in the corridor, we got to peek into “standard rooms”, which were considerably smaller but seemed to have the same furniture and comfort.
Breakfast is served on the 1st floor in a large but not too attractive looking space. As usual there is a buffet with Asian food and another section with a more European definition of breakfast. Even though the selection is quite alright, the quality of the food ranges from mediocre to bad. The bread is rather mushy and tasteless. And the very appealing looking selection of biscuits turns out to be absolutely inedible.
The hotel also houses a restaurant that serves both Eastern and Western food for dinner, but judging by the quality of the breakfast, I had no desire to give it a try. We did check out the rooftop bar, with an amazing view over the city, but it closes already at 10 PM. However the staff did allow us to stay as long as we would switch off the light.
There is said to be a small sauna with jacuzzi and massage parlor too, but I didn’t check these out. There are probably plenty of better and cheaper massage salons in the center of town, just a short walk away.
All in all, this hotel offers good value for money. The rooms are surprisingly modern and comfortable and that is the main thing!

Good value for money to stay and discover Can Tho's area Aug 09, 2012
Stayed there only for 1 night in August 2012. Chose this hotel based on agoda's website ratings.
That is a good place to stay and sleep well before to reach the Cai Rang floating market early in the morning and discover the Mekong river.
This hotel is well located, just in front of the Can Tho River. Joined it by walk from the bus station (Can Tho -> Ho Chi Minh City), took about 20/30 min.
Had a "Superior Double Room" with a nice view on the river. Not all the rooms have a nice view. Clean and quiet. The bathroom was big.
The building if high compare to the others in the front of the river and it is possible to have a drink at the top of the hotel. The view is nice.
Good value for money to stay and discover Can Tho's area.

Not more than OK Oct 21, 2009
The Kim Tho Hotel in Can Tho is an average hotel It's a good alternative to pass the night when travelling the Mekong delta area on your way to or from Ho Chi Minh City.
The hotel is situated in a side street off the boulevard of Can Tho. It's one of the highest buildings of the city and if you have a frontside room, you can have a view over the river right until the new bridge, actually the biggest bridge of Vietnam.
The famous Can Tho floating market is not too far away. Of course you need to charter a boat to get to the market.
Our room had no view unfortunately. It was not so big and the bath room was so so. Breakfast is in a buffet form and with a big choice it's of good quality.
The reception is of good service and behind the reception is a small room with computers with free internet.
The lobby is basic and contains a bar.W hen I was staying at the hotel no one was there to serve.
The elevator is good but tucked away in a corner.
In general, this hotel is good for passers-by on your way through the Mekong delta, but don't stay there too long.
