Mongolian BBQ in DC (one of a few places) Nov 09, 2011
I have driven past this place many, many, many times. I met up with a friend of mine for dinner one night and we decided on this place; mostly because neither of us had been here and we both wanted to try something new.

Khan's is located on the new H street corridor in NE DC. It's a developing area of DC that is being revitalized with a street of restaurants from New Orleans to Belgium! Khan's is right on the corner of H and 12th and for it's corner location, it has outdoor seating. It has indoor seating for about 40-50 people as well as a separate bar.

You can choose from ala carte items or you can get the stir-fry grill. For dinner, you can choose beef or chicken ($12), shrimp ($14), or a vegetarian ($10) base to go with the vegetables and sauces you choose. For lunch, your meal is $2 cheaper. Their items seem a little limited compared to other places I've been, but you can choose from carrots, mushrooms, brocolli, parsley, onions, peppers and ginger to create your meal and add any combination of 8 sauces. You give your mixture to the chef and they throw it on a huge hot grill and mix it with your choice of meat or vegetarian item.

The ceiling are high, the bathroom was clean, and the service was very mellow and flat. The drinks were small and the food was great! There aren't too many places for Mongolian BBQ in DC (they seem to be rather spread out), but this is a good place to check out if you are on the H street corridor.

Parking tip: Don't park right on H street or you'll have to feed the meter. Turn the corner and park on 12th where there are no meters, but parking is limited to 2 hours. On a crowded evening, you might have great difficulty finding any parking at all and you will most likely have to hike a few blocks (be prepared). Also, if you park on the left side of H street, be aware that the neighborhood is still developing. If you park on the right side of H street, you may feel a little more safe and may feel more comfortable leaving your car there. It's not pleasant to say, but for now, that's the way it is and I though you should know.
