Kenzan Japanese Restaurant Melbourne Reviews
Excellent Japanese restaurant Jan 31, 2016
S37°48.899' E144°58.377' an unassuming shopping arcade houses one of the best Japanese restaurant of Melbourne. In Japan, it is not uncommon to find excellent restaurants tucked away in the back of shopping arcades or railway stations.
On Christmas Eve 2015, we ordered the two persons set menu of sukiyaki with Japanese marbled beef for AUS$97 per person. The menu consisted of fine miso soup as appetiser, followed by thinly sliced pieces of sashimi with wasabi and deep fried tempura. They were very good quality dishes with very nice flavours and textures.
The main dish was thin slices of beef, cooked with various vegetables in a sauce on the table along with steamed rice. The beef tasted excellent. It was very delicious. With small fruits as dessert, we finished this excellent Japanese dinner. It was an experience and a joy to eat this delicate gourmet food.
As always, service was excellent. The Japanese waitresses took their duty as hosts very seriously. Although very busy in a restaurant full of guests, we had a nice chat about Japan.
Kenzan is certainly candidate for the title of Melbourne's best Japanese restaurant. We did not visit their main competitors, but Kenzan will not disappoint you. Expensive but very recommended.
