A big trip with my mom (my dad did not want to come with us because of the long flight) to Kenya! We were very excited and prepared! Everything was planned through a Swiss travel company inclunding a safari tour what is a must in Kernia! I still remember that trip very well! Kenia is a beautiful place and I especially enjoyed the safari days! My first trip with a "real" camera!

This was a really great day out. Im always a bit dubious about day trips and excursions but this was fantastic. Visited a wildlife park with some really cool animals, where you could hold them and get up close.
Up to Malinda for some snorkelling in the marine national park.

Today was a very long day. We woke up very early and met up at the Boulavard Hotel in Nairobi where we boarded the buss that was to be our home for two weeks. It was a very long driving day today. We stopped to pick up supplies and then proceded to drive to the "Great Rift Valley.…

Mombasa is the most diverse citiy for it's size that I have ever visited. I suppose that is partly due to Mombasa's very long history and partly due to the location of the city in an important crossroads of civilization. One of the attractions that was new to me was the Swaminarayan…

A safari is usually the last word in colonial style and you'll have the choice of staying in a range of accommodation - anything from mobile tented camps, to fine old lodges steeped in tradition, to modern hotels designed to blend in with their surroundings.
The wildlife is the prime attraction of Kenya safaris, which take place in some of Africa's best-known national parks, including the Masai Mara, Naivasha and Lake Nakuru which i remembered and tried

I decided to volunteer with GVN because I really wanted to go to Rwanda. But they couldn't fit me into the Rwandan program and as I love Kenya (I was there after my Honours year doing the safari thing) I got talked into doing the Kenyan Orphanage program instead. For those not familiar with the vol…

Nairobi, 70s with showers. Typical. The hotel I stayed at had a mall, so I didn't have to go out much, except to get the story I was being paid to get, but that was so easy I got it done in one day and had the next 3 days to myself before heading off to Darfur. So what'd I do? Headed off to safari …

I missed breakfast again, probably not eat since I arrived in Africa. Managed to stock up on a few things for he journey. We waited, the hostel staff and I, around for an age for the bus. The scenery was nothing like imagined, very dusty, red dirt, flat plains with sporadic & enormous mounds in ev…

It's been my dream since I was kid to work in Africa. When I was around
5 years old, I watched TV with my parents. At that time, TV was still
black and white. I saw news about famine and conflict in Ethiopia and
other part of Africa. I told my parents, “I want to go to Africa to be
a missiona…

Before I came to Kenya, I had equipped myself with Lonely Planet.
Looking at the color pages and the information inside of the book was
so fascinating. I was so excited to see and about to visit all the
places. I talked to myself, "Should I take all my life savings just to
visit all the places …

On my ride into Nairobi, it was too dark to see anything and there was absolutely no one on the roads. What a stark contrast to the next day! There were people everywhere and traffic was crazy! One thing I noticed was that all the men wore suits, whether they were legit businessme…

In October 2004, I went on a safari adventure to the Masai Mara in Kenya. I am putting up an old story as I am so sad to witness the current problems this country and its people are facing! Kenya is a fantastic country, full of warm and loving people on the whole.
My time in the Masai Mara, w…
