Paducah = Quilt Museum
posted by:
Apr 10, 2008 - May 16, 2008
I awoke at 7:30 this morning and figured that Judy would already be up, showered, dressed, and tapping her toe waiting for me to pack the car and get on the road for her Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky.  She was still asleep!  But it didn’t take her long to awaken to my noises and we were pretty well ready to go in short period.  Down to a cold breakfast at the hotel, packed the car, checked out and on the road. We had about 90 miles to go to get to Paducah, including cros...

Family Time
posted by:

We made it back to Ashland and we met up with the rest of the family over at Aunt Ellen’s. Aunt Ellen and Uncle Tom’s place was the gathering place, because they were more or less the senior member’s of the family and had a large home. Uncle Delbert was too feeble to much hosting and Aunt Ann & Uncle Bill had moved into an apartment years ago. When we got back, Dad let me know that he want to visit with Aunt Opal. Aunt Opal is his sister-in-law. She had married his brother, Jimmy. S...

Lake Barkley State Park....Late Start

This is the 2nd long camping trip we have taken as a family.  This trip my husband and I are traveling with our girls who are 4(almost 5 but tells everybody she is 6), 3 and 17 months.  We have done several weekend trips but these long ones can prove stressful at times (no baby gates, letting a 3 and 4 year old share a bed and a 17 month old who thinks she is as big as her sisters:-)!  These are also the  trips that show you how much your kids really are growing ...

Today my travels took me through Paducah, Kentucky. My parents had told me to stop through at the Museum of the American Quilt Society. I was apprehensive, but my parents have been good to me and I figured it couldn't be worse than visiting the museum of the Erie canal as a child. At any rate, it was $8, but it also housed some amazing quilts. I had no idea how cool quilts could look. They had some very intricate traditional style quilts, but also some that were more murals in fabric, and oth...

Tim picked me and my big ole' suitcase up early this morning at my hostel, our mission which i forced Tim to do before we left Nashville: to tick Kentucky off my states to see list. I begged him to drive me to K Tuc and he kindly relented.  We drove north about 45 miles and stopped at the border and i took some photos, Tim took some of me hugging the sign ha with me looking like a loony tourist with lots of trucks rolling past giving me strange look. We drove on to Bowling Green as it was th...

Day Two - Miles to Go Before We Rest
posted by:
Sep 15, 2006 - Sep 23, 2006
All of us agreed to get an early start on Saturday morning.  The weather was cooperating and we needed to take advantage of our good fortune.  A very uneventful day.  Traveling on the busy interstate is not our preferred route, but we didn't have a choice.  Making miles was our main objective so we rode tank to tank, not stopping anywhere inbetween.  One tank of gas usually stretches to 200 miles at speeds of 75 MPH and up, so we were stopping about every th...

May 27 - June 3:  Tampa to Grand Cayman to Cozumel to Belize to Costa Maya and back to Tampa.     This was my 2nd Carnival cruise and this was by far the better.  The ship was newer than the first one I travelled one and bigger.  We had really friendly and attentive waiters for our evening meals, courteous crew throughout, clean room and bathroom daily, great meal options, lots of space....really it was just great.  Just what I needed for a special trip...

Wax is such a wonderfull place, if you camp during the week most of the time you will be the only one there in AREA "C". There is no water or electric hook up its mainly for tents but each pad had a picnic table, fire pit and a nice flat space for your tent or 2, They have hot showers and restrooms which are cleaned daily. a nice play areaq for kids and a handicapped PAD.  Area "c" is like a penensala so most of the sights you have water for fishing or parking your boat. One side is on t...
